Jean-François Breton is a high-profile figure in the real estate industry, having set up the partnership and developed the renowned Quartier DIX30 commercial lifestyle centre located in Brossard, a suburb of Montreal. This project, which took more than 10 years to put together and build, proved to be a huge commercial success. After the development of a network of shops and major retailers, office space, restaurants, two hotels and two concert halls were added to complete this ambitious and evolving project. All the facets added gradually to the initial project have resulted in a vibrant and dynamic urban living environment. Lastly, the addition of a residential component of condos and rental apartments to occupy all remaining vacant space, has met with rapid and continuous growth in recent years.
Vice President Real Estate
Mathieu Collette is in charge of real estate investments made by the family-owned investment firm Kastellō immobilier inc, including strategy development and implementation, from the establishment of partnerships to the analysis and management of investment projects.
Mathieu has over 20 years of experience in various areas of real estate. Before joining Kastellō immobilier, he was Vice-President of Residential Real Estate Development at Devimco Immobilier, where he took part in the planning, organizing, management and control of development, sales/rentals, construction and delivery of 3,000 residential units (condos and apartments).
Mathieu spent the previous 15 years of his career at Groupe Altus, where he led a wide range of consulting, market research and property evaluation projects. He was responsible for the general management of residential consulting services.
In 2005, Mathieu Collette obtained his Chartered Appraiser (C.A.) licence, as well as his licence from the Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI), and he is a member of Ordre des évaluateurs agréés du Québec (O.É.A.Q) and the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC).
Eric Fortin is responsible for the management and development of the Kastellō family-owned investment company. He is also President of the firm’s first subsidiary, Kastellō Immobilier inc., which he leads and for which he oversees strategy, partnerships and investments.
Eric has more than 23 years of experience in business management, including 13 years with Alimentation Couche-Tard. There, he held the position of Director of Operations for 7 years and of Marketing Manager for 2. He owned and managed several businesses throughout the following decade and currently sits on a number of Boards of Directors.
Benoit Lemieux began his career with the family business LSR Group, a major real estate developer in both Canada and the United States. Upon his arrival in 1990, he was actively involved in the establishment of the company in the United States and, over the years, managed a real estate portfolio of more than 2,500 rental units in Texas and Florida. He acquired a Texas land portfolio and realized quality residential projects. He is the recipient of prestigious awards. Although he is mainly dedicated to American activities, he is actively involved in the management of the Group’s Canadian operations, including the management of the National Bank tower located in downtown Montreal for 15 years. Real estate market specialist both Quebec and the United States, he is recognized as an experienced and tireless manager. Member of the Charles Lemoyne Hospital Foundation since 2012, his philanthropic involvement really took off in 2015 when he became President of the Foundation. He is currently developing two major residential real estate projects in Texas and Colorado.
After graduating with in business administration, Marie-France served successively as a Plan Manager (1987–1990), Vice-President, Marketing (1990–1993), Vice-President Marketing and Communications (1993–1997), Executive Vice President (1997–2002) and lastly Executive Vice President, Sales (2002–2004) of Maax Inc. Marie-France is involved in the business community and has extensive board expertise, including directorships with Hydro-Québec, Laurentian Bank and Maax, to name a few. She is currently chair of the board of Université Laval and Port of Quebec. The breadth of her corporate management experience and governance expertise stand her in excellent stead for Champlain SH Real Estate Fund.
Pierre Simard, has deep experience in private equity and bank financing spanning over 25 years. He worked at Lazard Frères & Co. LLC and Donaldson Lufking & Jenrette Inc. as a Merchant Banker in their Mergers & Acquisitions divisions before founding Champlain Financial Corporation in 2002. Headquartered in Montreal, this corporation covers Canada from coast to coast, as well as the U.S. eastern seaboard with a representative office in Boston.
Chief Financial and Investment Officer
Over the past 13 years, Stéphane has been in charge of analyzing and monitoring the investments of Groupe Camada, where he has also developed expertise in real estate development through hands-in experience in numerous residential, commercial and industrial projects. Stéphane has solid expertise in corporate finance and business acquisitions, as well as financial analysis. In particular, he has performed financial analysis for a slate of major projects with the Quebec government agency Société générale de financement (SGF). With over 25 years of experience in investment project analysis, Stéphane will be a key success driver for Champlain SH Real Estate Fund.
